Nicole Ari Parker is an American film TV and stage actor who was famous for her portrayal as the spirited lawyer Teri Joseph in the Showtime show Soul Food. Contractor was cast in her first show after a year of university. After the show ran for 92 times, she was rewarded with praise from the audience. The play was deemed one of the most successful productions in Canada by reviewers. She was invited to join Stratford's conservatory, a program which allows just four men and eight females can attend a 20 weeks crash training in classical theater. Contractor got a confirmed spot for the following season and was given the role as Hermia.
